Easy coffee recipes: coffee jelly and coffee cookies

This time, we will introduce two recipes, "coffee jelly" and "coffee cookies," that will add color to your "cafe time" that you can easily enjoy at home.
Both can be made with simple ingredients and are snacks that allow you to fully enjoy the original flavor of coffee beans.
If you want to make the most of your time at home, or if you love coffee, be sure to give it a try.
Coffee Jelly: Enjoy a sophisticated taste with ease
Coffee jelly, with its soft texture and slightly bitter taste, has long been a staple dessert at coffee shops, and it's surprisingly easy to make at home.
Using dark roasted beans will give you a rich flavor that goes perfectly with milk or cream.
Ingredients (for 2-3 people)
-
Dark roast coffee (brewed): 300ml
-
Gelatin powder: 5g
-
Water (to soften the gelatin): 2 tablespoons
-
Sugar: 2 tablespoons (adjust to taste)
- Fresh cream or condensed milk (for topping): appropriate amount
How to make it
- Soak the gelatin in water for about 5 minutes.
- Put the extracted coffee and sugar into a pot and heat over low heat. Once the sugar has dissolved, turn off the heat, add the softened gelatin and mix well.
- Once cooled, pour into a container and chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours to harden.
- When ready to eat, add some cream or condensed milk and it's done!
Tip: We recommend using dark roast coffee, which has a good balance of aroma and bitterness. Carefully extracting the coffee using hand drip or a French press will bring out the flavor.
*Please note: The amounts and cooling times are only a guide. The solidification and flavor may vary depending on the performance of your home refrigerator and the strength of the coffee. Feel free to adjust the amount of gelatin and sweetness to suit your taste.
Coffee Cookies: A crispy and fragrant snack for adults
By kneading coffee into the cookies, they are given a slightly bitter and fragrant taste, creating a sophisticated flavor with a subtle sweetness. The flavor of the butter and the aroma of the coffee are a perfect match. They can also be frozen, so it's convenient to make a large batch.
Ingredients (makes about 20 pieces)
-
100g unsalted butter (room temperature)
-
Sugar: 70g
-
Egg yolk: 1
-
Cake flour: 150g
-
Instant coffee or espresso powder: 1.5 teaspoons
- 1 teaspoon hot water (to dissolve the coffee)
How to make it
-
Place the butter in a bowl and beat with a whisk until creamy.
-
Add the sugar and mix well until it turns white.
-
Add the dissolved coffee mixture and egg yolks and mix well.
-
Sift in the flour and mix gently with a rubber spatula to combine the dough.
-
Wrap in plastic wrap and let rest in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to 1 hour.
-
Roll out the dough to a thickness of about 5mm and cut it with a cutter or knife.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 170℃ for about 15 minutes and it's done!
Arrangement : Adding chocolate chips or nuts will give it a richer taste, and using highly roasted beans will enhance the flavor.
*Please note: Baking times and temperatures will vary depending on your home oven. The thickness of the cookies and the amount of moisture in the dough will also affect the finished product, so please adjust accordingly. Be careful not to overcook them, and they're ready when the edges are lightly browned. Also, the amounts are just a guide. Adjust the amount of flour, milk, and sugar to suit your taste for the firmness and sweetness of the dough.
The choice of coffee determines the taste
The taste of both recipes will vary greatly depending on the quality and roast level of the coffee beans.
For example, dark roasted beans with a strong bitter taste and rich flavor go well with coffee jelly, while fragrant medium roasted beans go well with cookies. By grinding the beans and brewing them, you can enjoy a more mellow aroma and flavor.
When choosing beans from an online shop, be sure to check the roast level, origin, grinding method, etc. For sweets, we recommend beans from Guatemala or Brazil. They have a good balance of sweetness and richness, making them easy to pair with a variety of dishes.
